After a quick survey of my beauty products, I noticed they had a common denominator: SHEA BUTTER. The products that have stood the test of time in my beauty regimen all contain shea butter.
I took it upon myself to do some research, I now have scientifically documented proof of why I love shea butter. It is rich in vitamins A, E, F, and essential fatty acids which accounts for its soothing, healing, and moisturizing properties.
In particular, I have been grabbing for an amazing product line that I was recently introduced to. Golden Liquid Soaps by U.C.A.N. makes homemade, all-natural liquid soaps and moisturizers that contain shea butter as a main ingredient.
Here are some of the benefits I have been noticing from using shea butter in my beauty treatments:
- Soft Softener and Moisturizer– I have been using shea butter as a night cream for my entire body. It conditions my skin over night and I wake up to soft, silky skin. BONUS: After 3 months of this nightly ritual, I have noticed significant fading in some of my old scars. CLICK HERE for the rich shea butter blend that I recommend.
- Sandal-Ready Feet – I have been soaking my feet in warm water infused with shea butter liquid soap for 30 minutes once a week. Rough, dry skin easily wipe away after soaking and leaves me with sandal-ready feet. CLICK HERE for the liquid soap that has become my pedicure holy grail.
Have you ever tried to decipher the ingredients of your beauty products? If so, you probably felt you needed a degree in chemistry to understand exactly what you were using on your body. Then comes the realization that the world of beauty and the world of all things natural and organic are very far apart.
Aveda has helped bridge the gap between these two worlds by providing one-stop shopping for natural beauty. They manufacture a full line of makeup, hair care, and skin care products. The entire line is naturally derived from plant products. Aveda also offers salon and spa services for those who aren’t too keen on do-it-yourself treatments and prefer to be pampered.
With summer in full blaze, it is a bit redundant to remind you of the importance of protecting your skin from the sun. Overexposure to the sun is the number one cause of extrinsic aging of the skin and it also greatly increases the risk of developing skin cancer.
Most of us answer to the sun by slathering on SPF everyday. However, there may be another step to take to ensure that you are protecting your skin properly. You may actually need to add a few things to your daily diet. Foods such as tomato paste and flavanoid rich cocoa have demonstrated that they specifically aid in protecting the skin from sun damage. Several clinical studies provide evidence that eating foods that are dense in antioxidants internally fortify the skin and increase its ability to become more tolerant to ultraviolet (UV) exposure.
Eating antioxidant rich foods will never replace the need for using sunscreen everyday. However, consuming antioxidant rich foods can take sun protection to a level that’s more than skin deep. To learn more about the clinical studies that have been done CLICK HERE.
